This man will become an even bigger part of my life journey starting next week as we tie the knot and get married! So I thought I’d share a little bit about this dreamboat if you didn’t already know him.

or as I like to call him

Big Al

You could see he’s a language-nerd (he speaks 4 languages fluently!), loves sci-fi, action movies, superheros, video games, cyber-punk, drinks, linguistics and Impressionist paintings. He was born in Washington D.C., spent his childhood living in Paris and his teenage years growing up in Vienna, Austria before moving to the United States at 17 to go to college in Boston. He’s always been confused about his identity having grown up as a “third culture kid” and is always stumped when people ask him where he is from. He acts more European than he does American, but he also has a bit of Latin Venezuelan blood from his father’s side.

A logical, practical but dreaming Virgo, he’s my perfect zodiac match and the complete opposite of me. He makes me laugh harder than any friend I’ve had, and for someone who is always easily bored of people/places and things, I have never once been bored of this man and his wit and quick mind. He is calm and peaceful, elegant and diplomatic, always accepting and understanding of others. He has the worst memory of anyone I know and he is the most compassionate person that I know. He is a bit aloof…a bit oblivious…but has the sweetest heart and he treats me like a queen. He’s logical and solid in public, but becomes the silliest, mushiest goof in private and I adore him. When I say I am lucky, I seriously mean it. He does everything for me.

He loves Coca-cola in vintage glass bottles, old 1940s tunes, Halo, and the Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama. His favorite person is Teddy Roosevelt and his favorite animal is between a tiger and red panda.
Where I am fiery and aggressive in nature, he is gentle and soft. Where I am ambitious and driven, he goes with the flow and simply enjoys the little things like good food, movies, and nature walks. We are unlike one another in personality and temperament and yet we  compliment each other so beautifully. I am a hot mess most of the time, and he is always able to find my phone/keys/charger/glasses/etc when I am off creating some new thing. He is always stable, and I am always floating. He is earth and I am air. He is Yin, I am Yang. He is the Full Moon, and I am the New. He loves reds, I love blues. We are nothing alike and we are everything alike.
He is someone I aspire to be more of: loving, accepting, forgiving, compassionate, nonjudgmental, thoughtful and meticulous. He is always saying that I inspire him, but the truth is, I am the one that is always inspired of him: to be a kinder human and to be an all around better human being.
Next week, I will commit my life to him. Next week, I will vow to share in his triumph and joys and struggles and dreams for the rest of my days. Next week, I will become this man’s wife and partner in life. Next week, our new life together b e g i n s.
