Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid To Visit Your Pluto Astrocartography Lines
Yes, it’s true, Pluto astrocartography lines can be really difficult.
But after working with thousands of clients, I can confidently tell you — Pluto lines are powerful locations for positive change and alchemization.
You’ll never be the same after visiting a Pluto astrocartography line.
Today we’re covering Pluto on the angles — AC, MC, DC, IC — and what they represent. You’ll hear stories about common client experiences, living on or visiting, their Pluto lines. Plus we’ll talk about the good side of Pluto and how Pluto can transform your life for the better.
Let’s weigh the pros and cons of Pluto astrocartography lines and talk about why you don’t need to be so afraid of Pluto lines (thanks to the misinformation spread on the internet!).
Unfortunately, pop astrologers on social media love to fearmonger about Pluto astrocartography lines. They make generalized statements like, “NEVER go to your Pluto line, it’s the worst place on Earth.”
That might be because Pluto represents:
Power
Control
Secrets
Corruption
Manipulation
Investigations
Transformation
The underworld
Death and rebirth
Exposing the truth
Seeing the unseen
The intensity of life
Making what’s hidden, visible.
And that sounds quite scary because many of us want to live an easy, pleasant, comfortable life.
Pluto isn’t pleasant. It feels very intense. If you want to avoid that energy, I totally understand why you wouldn’t want to live in a Pluto astrophotography line or a Pluto Paran.
(Remember, Pluto parans are latitude crossings. Even if you don’t have any Pluto astrophotography lines within orb you may have a Pluto paran adding Plutonian intensity to your environment.)
If you have strong Pluto aspects within your identity or your birth chart, you might be drawn to these intense experiences.
I have Pluto in the 1st house coloring my identity in so many ways. It’s located in my 1st house, directly opposing my Taurus sun by degree at 00° degree opposition. Throughout my childhood, this Plutonian influence felt difficult. In my adult life, I see the beautiful side of Pluto. You could say Pluto’s a HUGE player in my life, my chart, my natal promise, and my life’s mission.
The Greek Mythology Surrounding Pluto and Pluto Astrocartography Lines
Let’s chat about the myth of Pluto.
In ancient Greek mythology, Hades was the “unseen one”, or God of the Underworld. He possessed a cap of invisibility called the helmet of Pluto and maintained a balance amongst the souls in the underworld.
Here’s the thing about Pluto, Hades, and the underworld — the doors are always open to go into the underworld, but the return is very difficult. It requires strenuous work and labor to emerge from the dungeon of the underworld.
And it’s so interesting because I recently had a client tell me when she was living on her Pluto line she felt like she was in the depths of a dungeon, looking up and trying to get out…
That is so literal of Pluto and all it represents.
The beauty of the underworld?
You will always find the truth down there.
You discover what’s hidden, secrets that need to be unveiled, and what within you needs to be let go, shed, and removed so you can step into the truth of who you are. Pluto is big on psychology.
I always think of the quote by Michelangelo when he was creating the statue of David. When Michelangelo was asked how he carved the statue of David, he answered…“It’s simple. I just remove everything that is not David.”
There’s this addition-through-subtraction element, looking in the wrong places and shedding layers of self to find your way back to the core of who you really are. And by removing these unauthentic layers, you arrive at your soul on the deepest and purest of levels — you discover the real you.
Pluto’s a truth-teller. It’ll show you the darkness and the underworld even if it’s unpleasant.
On the Angles: Pluto in Astrocartography
Alright, let’s talk about Pluto in astrocartography.
The angle determines how you’ll experience hidden truths coming out around that specific area of life.
AS angle — Truth about yourself on a Pluto Ascendant line, when Pluto was rising in the world.
Visiting Pluto on the Ascendant will transform you into a different person. It’s all about your identity, and your sense of self-transformation within your identity. Now I would be careful physically here. Take care of your body and your health.
Pluto AS is wonderful for teaching, being a leader in psychology, shadow work, law, working in the wine industry, mining, and industrial work. It’s great for journaling and self-analysis too.
IC angle — Truth about your childhood, family, origins, upbringing, traditions, or ancestry, which is Pluto on the IC angle.
I’m convinced Pluto IC has past life connections.
I’ve had so many clients tell me out of the blue, “I feel like I had a past life here in the world. I feel like my soul’s been here or lived here. I dream about this place. What line is there?”
It’s always a Pluto IC line (although nodes are big with past lives too.)
There’s an energy of familiarity. The IC angle in astrology represents the past, what came before, ancestry, family origins, childhood, and your parents — especially when it’s in the 4th house.
You could be changing your beliefs, transforming your identity from your childhood or your relationship with your parents. Again look to your natal Pluto, but this is one of those weird places where people love visiting this line.
DC angle — Truth about other people, which is Pluto on the Descendent, when Pluto was setting in the world.
Pluto Descendant can deal with powerful people, allies, partnerships, and collaborations in business. You can be very successful here. You’ll need to be very truthful with people and vice versa because Pluto demands truth.
Any type of lying or deceitfulness can prove difficult later down the road especially if you’re hiding things.
I’ve had a lot of clients meet the love of their life on Pluto DC lines. They’re like power couples, influential in business together or their spouse/partner embodies Plutonian qualities. But I’ve also seen clients who live on Pluto Descendant lines have dealt with abuse from a partner, stalking, and obsession from a partner.
MC angle — Truth about society, the collective at large, governments, or corporations working for an industry of some kind, which is the MC angle, midheaven, when Pluto was culminating in the world.
Pluto MC is one of the most successful places on a map.
I’ve had so many high-profile clients living on Pluto MC lines who work in government, and politics, as well as celebrities in the music industry and films.
It’s amazing to see the influence people have in their industry when living on Pluto MC lines. I think of Pluto MC lines as disrupting an industry and transforming it in a new way. It also deals with corruption and abuse of power.
Visiting Pluto Astrocartography Lines Is Like Doing Shadow Work
I remember when I first dove into shadow work.
I was living in Corsica, France doing To Be Magnetic work. One of the shadow work modules had us ask our friends — what are the aspects of me that you don’t like? What aspects of me have hurt you or made you feel uncomfortable?
You know, getting that feedback at first is…nerve-wracking. You’re afraid of people’s responses. It takes real courage to do shadow work. It takes real bravery to ask for the uncomfortable truth and receive feedback. It’s not a relaxing or peaceful energy.
Shadow works (or simply visiting a Pluto line) uncover your true self and your personal power. Pluto lines are really powerful for being a teacher, a psychologist, or even a shadowwork practitioner like Lacey Phillips.
Lacey founded To Be Magnetic. She has such a beautiful energy, and she’s a big expander for me and my own life. She’s always lived on a Pluto line in California and she’s using that energy to the fullest extent. She goes into the depths of psychology, subconscious work, meditation, and hypnosis. She helps guide people to step into their authentic selves.
That’s the job of the underworld and Pluto — to expose and bring light to uncomfortable truths.
People who live on Pluto lines don’t describe it as a peaceful place to be. All the clients I’ve worked with who’ve lived on Pluto lines describe them as places of intensity, places where their lives changed, and where they had to deal with abuse, corruption, and betrayal.
But, living on a Pluto line makes you a force to be reckoned with. You’re not afraid of the dark side of life.
Pluto In Your Birth Chart and Astrocartography Map
Now, keep in mind, this isn’t to make Pluto sound like some joyous, pleasant place.
Specifically, if you have hard aspects to Pluto in personal planets like the Sun or Moon, or if Pluto’s squaring, or opposing personal planets in your chart (aka Pluto opposing your Sun or Moon is very difficult aspect.)
These are personal luminaries. Having Pluto make a sharp or intense aspect to a personal planet will feel intense on a personal level.
Remember, Pluto’s a generational planet — the baby boomer generation has Pluto in Leo. Millennials, like me, have Pluto in Scorpio. Gen X-ers have Pluto in Libra. And Gen Z has Pluto in Capricorn.
I encourage you to look at your personal planets like the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, and Mars. Note if you have any Pluto squares or oppositions to personal planets in your birth chart. For example, if you have your Moon or Sun conjunct Pluto — which means they’re together — that can be a difficult, intense experience.
Now, if you have supportive aspects of Pluto, like a Moon trine Pluto, what a potent aspect of emotional resilience. That indicates a strength of character that can be powerful to tap into when you travel to a Pluto line.
My Experience On A Pluto Astrocartography Line
The last time I was on my Pluto astrocartography line was in Iceland.
I was on my Pluto line and my Sun line because they’re opposed to directly my chart (anytime Pluto’s somewhere in the world, the Sun line will be right next to it because it’s a signature in the birth chart.)
The eclipse in Taurus was hitting my natal Sun very close to the degree in October 2023. I didn’t plan it that way. I didn’t even look at the transits.
I felt called to visit Iceland so me and my best friend did a road trip! It was really fun for the two of us. We had a great time. That’s actually when I realized I wanted to marry my husband too.
But Iceland was one of the most psychologically intense experiences of my entire life.
Physical and literal things that happened too. I got hurt, and my car broke down, fell into a ditch, and I had to get it towed. There was just a lot going on.
But when I think about Iceland, I think about the profound psychological transformation I had there. I broke through so many subconscious patterns and beliefs from my childhood — ones I didn’t realize were even a thing…
Experiencing that Eclipse on my Pluto and Sun line made me leave a different person. I arrived home feeling more worthy, powerful, and healed. I’m not the same person I was before that trip.
If you want to be happy and comfortable 24/7, go to a Venus line or a benefic Moon Ascendant and live there. If you want to be challenged and stretched, don’t be afraid to Pluto lines.
Don’t let the internet make you fear going to Pluto astrocartography lines just because of stereotypes. Yes, Pluto brings truth. Yes, the truth can be uncomfortable. But sometimes uncomfortability and contrast is what makes life worth living.
As someone who has LOTS of Pluto in her chart — I love Pluto energy and I’m not going to allow the fearmongering on the internet to stop me from traveling to Pluto lines.
There’s nothing to be afraid of with Pluto astrocartography lines, kindred spirit.
With love,
