Let’s chat about Moon Astrocartography lines so you can learn how to interpret your own Moon, and what you can expect when traveling to your Moon lines on the four angles.
The Moon is the fastest-moving luminary we have. The lunar cycles and the Moon phases shift all month long. So when we’re talking about the Moon, a few keywords to consider — fluctuation, fluidity, emotions, the rise and fall.
The Moon can’t be pinned down. She’s not solid, or stable, but rather ever-changing. Because she’s constantly shifting, when you’re on a Moon line, expect more emotions to surface. Your moods and thoughts may change…often.
For instance, being on my Moon MC line brings a sense of changing careers A LOT since the MC angle, or the midheaven, is the highest point of visibility in the chart. This angle refers to career, public recognition, and social reputation.
If you have the Moon MC in your birth chart, or you’re visiting a Moon MC astrocartography line, you may expect changes in your career. With this natal placement, you may be someone who changes their career often or one day you’re really inspired to do one thing, and the next day you’re super inspired to do something different.
That’s because your emotions lead the work. Your emotions, your heart’s desires and how you feel lead your career. And that’s okay, because remember, just like the Moon, you’re always fluctuating.
First off, we have the Moon Ascendant line or the Moon ASC. This is all about you. You embody the Moon. The Moon infuses into your emotions, intuition, perspective, and your perception of the world.
Now, Moon Ascendant lines can be hit or miss. It all depends on your natal moon.
But if you have a nicely placed Moon, or it’s a bit more neutral, (meaning no hard aspects, or not difficult placements) the Moon line on the Ascendant can be a place to call home. Generally, people really enjoy this line!
When people visit their Moon ASC lines, they don’t want to leave. They want to settle there. There’s just this sense of really being in connection with your heart and your mood and your emotions. It’s the feeling of comfort, safety, desires being met, and nourishment.
The Ascendant angle is one of the most important, because it represents you, right?
So naturally the Moon ASC lines are amazing for getting to know yourself, and to understand your needs and your emotions.
The Moon Descendant line or the Moon DC, is the opposite of the Ascendant. Moon DC is about other people. These are exterior things, things outside of yourself. Lunar energy that’s coming to you, not from you.
Think of other people, co-workers, romantic partnerships, and friendships. External people embody the Moon’s energy, so there’s often a sense of emotional bonding, nourishment, exchanges of giving and receiving, or motherly/fatherly energy coming from other people.
It can feel over-emotional, dependent on others, or like you’re seeking comfort from other people. But, all in all, Moon Descendant lines are wonderful for connecting with others!
(At the risk of sounding like a broken record — check your natal Moon placement, including the sign placement and the aspects. Your birth chart will give so much extra context.)
Ah, the Moon IC lines. These are some of my favorite astrocartography lines because they feel like home. They’re like the cozy sweater lines because of the sense of family, traditions, home, roots, belonging, and ancestry is strong here because the Moon IC angle represents lineage, family, and parents.
The central focus of the story here may be family obligations. It’s really lovely for establishing roots, being a parent, birthing children, and tending to a garden. Just overall rootedness.
Last but not least we have the Moon MC, or the Moon on the midheaven angle. These astrocartography lines inspire you to give to the public. There’s a deep desire to care for others and be of service to your community.
I see Moon MC lines as a maternal or paternal energy that wants to support others, emotionally. The MC is your work, career, and reputation and it’s colored by the Moon so emotions flood into what you do for work.
It can also be a fame line. Traditionally in astrology, the Moon MC — especially in the 10th house — is an indicator of fame, being or publicly recognized.
I’m not saying you’ll go to a Moon MC line and instantly become famous. It might manifest as being an authority figure or leading a big team. Plus, Moon MC lines can be very successful for people, especially if you’re working in healthcare, humanitarian work or acting. It’s a place of wearing your heart on your sleeve, of the public SEEING your moon.
A moon line in astrocartography is a very common place for my clients to find home on.
