As a destination family photographer, I am always so grateful to photograph families and couples in love on their vacation, and this recent session in Portugal, along the Algarve beaches, was one of my favorites! This being my second session at Quinta do Lago in Portugal, I scouted my favorite spots beforehand, finding some romantic locations along the sand dunes, wooden bridge and along the golden sands.

Nelson emailed me about portraits of him and his lovely girlfriend Catarina in Portugal, and after choosing to have our beach session at Quinta do Lago – a small, quiet beach near Faro – we planned our session for just a little before golden hour. The wide blue skies are stunning in Portugal, and with the empty beach to ourselves, we played, frolicked and I cheerfully snapped away while they were completely in their element: happily in love.

Our session was laid-back, silly and so much fun as we enjoyed the clouds passing by and the sun dipping down beyond the shore. We joked and laughed and Nelson and Catarina were both such naturals to photograph – they made my job so easy!

As a destination photographer, I’ve photographed families in Paris, Southern California, New York City and across France, but I am madly in love with the country of Portugal. Since having started photographing couples and families there last year, the Algarve has quickly become one of my favorite places to travel and shoot in, and I love going back to Portugal to photograph families on their travels.
