This session was one of the most fun sessions I’ve had this year! Sandra Ruth is a super talented lifestyle family photographer in Stuttgart, and we connected through a social media (thank you Facebook groups!) Not only is she is talented and inspiring but she is one of the kindest and most warm-hearted creatives I’ve met in the industry. She radiates such love and light, and it was so fun getting to talk about our mutual love for lifestyle family portraiture, our favorite Clickin Moms classes we’ve taken and our passion for traveling and living abroad. I’m so glad I got to photograph your beautiful family, Sandra – it truly was a pleasure!
Their Story
Sandra, her husband Karsten and her sweet daughters S and C have lived a life that people can only dream of! S and C were born in Mexico and Hungary and they have lived their lives traveling and living around the world! Sandra and I connected over our love for our expat lifestyles – moving and living in different countries – including moving our photography businesses! Sandra and Karsten’s love for one other and their daughters was so honest, warm and a absolute joy to document.
The Shoot
From the minute I met them at Max-Eyth-See lake in Stuttgart, we all hit it off and connected right away! Sandra and me excitedly got to talking right away, and I bonded with their ten year old daughter, C over our mutual love for Harry Potter. S is 7, and the jokester of the family. She was hilarious, cracking jokes, dancing and giggling at me while I asked her dad NOT to put bunny ears over my head (part of the joke, of course). It was an easy session, getting their laughter and connection between the two sisters was a breeze, and I particularly loved the connection C had with her new puppy – she’s such an animal-lover and you can see it in the images captured.
The Location
Max-Eythe-See is a beautiful lake located in Stuttgart, Germany. While it was my first time there, I did some location scouting before the session and discovered the most beautiful docks, weeping Willow trees, and colorful foliage where the golden hour light was hitting. Plenty of Oktoberfest restaurants were around the lake, as is a boat dock and a circular walking path around the big lake. As the golden hour light began to dip during the session, we noticed the most mystical fog sweep above the water, it made this picture even more magical.
Sandra, thank you again for having me photograph your family. Your girls are seriously the best (such sweethearts!), and I had such a fun time with all of you. Enjoy these sneak peeks and your full gallery- I just sent it off your way!
