It’s Christmas Eve, and with the shops on the main street in my beloved Old Town Alexandria begin to close up for the holiday, I head home for some new traditions.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 3 years that Alex and I have been together. As we come up to our anniversary in just a few short weeks, I’ve begun to go through old photos and video footage of our trips and memories we’ve made over the years. The other day we noticed how we have become a little family together, just him and me. We’ve created new traditions, like having annual portraits taken of us every year or opening presents on Christmas Eve while old black and white films like White Christmas and Holiday Inn play in the background. As we begin to grow more serious with time and shared life experiences, it’s wonderful to look back on all these memories. From him being with me as I had my first legal drink on my 21st birthday to him graduating with his Masters from Columbia, we’ve been through a lot of life together. I mean, he was with me when I found out my dad had passed. We’ve backpacked Europe together and hiked up volcanos in Costa Rica. We wild camped in Iceland and visited way too many Disney parks, it’s almost embarrassing to say. It’s my goal to share our memories through this little blog here, to document and record our life experiences together through writing and photography as we live around the world and pursue our dreams.
With autumn over and winter now officially beginning, I thought I’d share some favorite memories from our time exploring Montpellier Farms in Maryland this past October.
