Irida, her husband and two boys met me at my favorite shooting location in Strasbourg – the Parc de l’Orangerie. With it being the final week of November, the majority of the trees were bare and the colorful leaves now brown and crunched together on the ground. I arrived early, as I usually do to see how the light was looking that day and to scout out an Autumn-inspired tree or two. I was in luck! My studio manager, Alex – who is also my helpful location scouting assistant, and I found some gorgeous trees, tested the spot and I was good to go!
I am a super happy photographer in that all of the families I’ve photographed over the years have been laid-back, warm and easy to work with. And Irida and her kind family were no exception! Her two sons were cheerful and friendly. The eldest, 13, is an actor and he and I immediately connected over our love of film and the entertainment industry! I primarily have photographed newborns, babies and children, and when I get a session with older kids, I am over the moon excited to talk, talk, talk. With babies and newborns, communication is limited!
The Bond of Brotherhood
The two boys were having a ball laughing, being silly, dancing and playing with the leaves, and I just loved capturing their energy, vigor and humor. Youthful energy is contagious and always gives so much fun energy to work with. And having two brothers that are close enough to talk, laugh and get comfortable in front of the camera makes it fun for everyone! Siblings are my personal favorite subjects. It could be because I grew up an only child dreaming of having a sibling or that I love connection, comraderie and friendship so deeply that I love to showcase this in my imagery. I also specifically loved photographing the boys interactions with their adoring mom. You could just sense so much love and admiration coming from her towards her boys.
It was such a treat photographing your family, Irida!

A Modern Classic Approach – in Style and Posing
With my sessions, I love to get a few classic must-have shots. The popular photographic style these days is to capture the spontaneous, real and emotive. While the bulk of my images showcase this, I also am traditional in my styling approach. Specializing in modern classic imagery, I always strive to get a mix of both in my galleries: lifestyle candid shots and classic smile-at-the-camera portraits for the grandparents. Let’s be real: we all love one amazing photo of the whole family looking at the camera! It never goes out of style. It’s timeless. A perfect, simple snapshot of a loving family. And as a photographer that specializes in timeless imagery, I love to get a balanced mix of poses.
